Andrew Garfield announced his retirement from acting on April 27, 2022, in an interview with Variety. When discussing about his next film, Under the Banner of Heaven, the Amazing Spider-Man actor revealed the news to Variety.
In an interview with Variety’s Marc Malkin, Garfield discussed his demanding career. During the chat, Garfield, 38, disclosed that he will be taking a sabbatical from acting. Garfield remarked-
“I’m just so lucky, and I’m going to take a break, I’m going to rest for a little while again because I need to recalibrate and reconsider what I want to do next and who I want to be, and just be a little bit of a person for a while.”
What are the reactions to Andrew Garfield’s decision?
After Variety released a tape of Garfield’s interview in which he disclosed he is taking a break from acting, many admirers took to Twitter.
“I’d say he’s exhausted,” one user wrote, “it’s been non-stop interviews and screenings and press events and red carpets since November, actually before that with Tammy Faye.”
Another person sympathized with the actor and praised him for taking a break. “That’s wonderful,” said another person. Everyone needs a mental and physical break from their jobs and the challenges they face on a daily basis. I feel it will be useful to him, and he is lucky to be able to do so financially. “I wish all of us were like them.”
