Swaroop started working in Gujarati theater plays while still a college student. She began receiving offers from the Hindi film industry in 1979 after winning the Miss India competition.

She made her Bollywood debut in 1981 with the film “Nakhuda.”

She went on to work in numerous films including “Sawaal,” “Himmatwala,” “Lorie,” “Karishma,” etc.

In the interim, she made her television debut on the hit comedy series “Ye Jo Hai Zindagi,” in which she portrayed “Renu.”

She gained a lot of acclaim from the general public for her roles in TV series like “Yeh Duniyan Gazab Ki,” “All The Best,” “Shanti,” etc. She has also acted in a number of Hindi movies, including “Saathiya,” “Ki and Ka,” “Uri: The Surgical Strike,” and others.

She sent numerous letters to former Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and other Maharashtra ministers urging them to improve educational opportunities for rural children. Later, she received a response from Modi and was chosen to lead an educational initiative for kids in Gujarat. Swaroop also conducts workshops for kids in Gujarat while working for the Gujarat Council for Educational Research and Training. She worked tirelessly to enroll more than 700 children in schools as a result of her efforts.
