On April 1, 1978, Jason was born to Geraldine Bell (mother) and Cortland Bell (father). Jason Dewande Bell is his full name. Jason was born and raised in Long Beach, California. Jason began playing football in high school, where he was a quarterback, wide receiver, and cornerback. At UCLA, he was a member of the Bruins’ special teams. While making 38 tackles and leading the team in passes defended, his squad won the Pacific-10 Conference championship in 1998. (14).
He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2001 NFL Draft. On September 1, 2002, he was waived after leading his club with 21 tackles as a gunner. He joined the Houston Texans the next day and played in the franchise’s inaugural season.
